Comm 535 Updates
Grrr…

I made an earlier post and it’s gone. Ugh! To sum things up… I’m a little behind my project schedule but, the site is up and running.  I spent more time than expected on adding modules so that the it would be easier for the client to administer the site once it’s finished.

After all the content is in place, I’ll will focus on the Flash piece of my project. I’m can always come back to styling and CSS.

The Plan of Attack

March 19 – Website is up

March 26 – Website contains proper layout and content based off the original website.

March 27 to April 1 – Flash tutorials to determine what kind of flash file I want to make

April 2 – Idea/Outline of my Flash file finished

April 3 to 15 – Construction on Flash file

April 16 – Flash file completed and inserted into website

April 17 to 22 – Testing/Debugging, final touches, add additional features

April 23 – Website is ready to be presented

Some of you might have seen this error when setting up Drupal on your PC. Just in case this site has the fix.

And the project begin…

Ok, so I have my project and It’s time to get to work. I will be converting a flat website to the Drupal platform and learning Adobe Flash along the way. My domain and hosting service is all set up and ready to go. Wish me luck!

Ok, so I finally found the syllabus. For some reason I thought is was a website as well until I found the link to the PDF file sitting nice and pretty on Blackboard.

This week I researched some themes for the American Forum website. While doing this, I also got some great ideas for my final project website. Let’s hope that it looks very creative. I also did more research on the Facebook Connect piece and I just realized that it could take 1 to 6 weeks for the Single Sign-On feature. We don’t have that much time but, I think we can do it…. fingers crossed.

It’s neat to work with websites from this angle and making them for interactive use. The is very different from the boring flat html files and business apps web pages that I’ve seen before. This should be very interesting and I never thought that I would be setting up such a powerful website from scratch.

As for the group project, I’m starting off with research on the Facebook API. The goal is to use Facebook Connect with our Drupal site so that we can seamlessly integrate the two.

Now, if I could only get to the course syllabus…
